Half Man
This shit was so gas. Super intense and passionate, really well acted and at times comedic despite the dark themes.
But for a show about two brothers failing to communicate, they do a lot of therapy style conversations. At times the language is very ornate and the show does not trust the audience to understand the show thematically without having characters explicitly spell it out through dialogue. I can understand Niall being well spoken but every character seemed to have these searing emotional insights and command over the English language to communicate them. The archaic language and at times fanfic-esque dialogue would occasionally pull me out. I feel as though the show was strongest in its silence, through words not communicated. If it had held off on these sort of dialogue lore dumps throughout, the ending scenes would have packed an even bigger punch.
I know my criticism is longer than my praise but I did genuinely think this was a really well done show on masculinity/fraternity and the dialogue (which can also be great at times too) is the only critique I have.
