Jamie Foxx number one aura merchant

An amazing movie about the cost of perfection.

**Possibly the most larped piece of media ever? ** The fact that people just see this as the tough alpha male fighting movie pisses me off cause it’s got a lot to say under the hatch when you take a closer look. In reality, it’s biggest fanboys are the exact people jts critiquing. Fight club is about a group of men sold a lie that the most prosecuted group of people in the world are men, and that the only way to consolidate that is through violence and destruction. Tyler basically makes a religion out of one liners and contradictions. The problem, is that Tyler’s whole cult is built on the body of a weak, consumerist, scared man. The symbolism of soap is pretty central to this film. Lye being farmed as waste from the richest class and being sold back for profit is great. However, in the book, lye was taken from the fat of Marla’s mother, a metaphor for how men’s spaces are typically built off of the backs of women. The critique of capitalism and consumerism holds pretty true in the movie with all of the members of project mayhem leaving everything behind and living completely self sustainably. Fight clubs critique of capitalism holds to be one of its best themes for me personally. Something the movie was missing severely was the blatant queer subtext of the book, subtext that remains prevalent in the movie with Tyler’s kiss and the homoerotic nature of fight club itself. In the book Tyler and the Narrator meet alone on a nude beach while Tyler builds an elaborate sand castle, all while the narrator looks on in practical astonishment of Tyler himself. Ultimately, this is one of my favorite movies of all time that gets horribly misunderstood.

The most incredible part about this movie is the fact that the undercover cop as a klansman is actually undercover!
