Citizen Kane
I felt as if i was watching a modern piece. The transitions, camera positioning, sudden changes of tone. This film has all the genres perfectly balanced. The way the first scenes are made already scream innovation.
A faster pacing than I would expect, far greater dialogue and blocking to show the viewer more than what's on screen.
Kane's character, since the beginning, rolls over others while speaking, he always asserts dominance and breaks the tension with his sympaty...
The whole tale that is conducted to us is a bit of a representation of USA itself, or of a great figure once delightful but eventually disgusting, or of simply a fellow that changed so much even his closest ones can't comprehend what he meant by his last words, even though he had all the money and possessions, he was always longing for love.
