Sharp Objects

Very dark and engrossing with a twist I didn't see coming! Really, the ending (which you have to be sure to watch a few seconds past the end credits for a rapid-fire montage of the real killer) had my mind spinning. Looking back, of course the clues were there all along - hiding in plain sight. The filmmakers (created by Marti Noxon) and screenwriters (co-written by novelist Gillian Flynn) weaved a story full of visual cues and breadcrumbs in the dialogue and soundtrack that only the most savvy viewers probably caught on first watch. While not an easy sit, this is a series that would reward repeat viewings - not just for the juicy storytelling but for the powerhouse performances by Amy Adams (Camille), Patricia Clarkson (Adora/Mama), and Eliza Scanlen (Amma, Camille's half sister). Either way, this is peak TV at it's best. Unfortunately, this limited series won't be returning to HBO.
