I loved the technicolor in this, but I also loved how in depth these characters problems were. The blocking in the ending scene is something I enjoyed because all of the hadley's were in that room even if it wasn't a physical appearance. The father's picture was looking down upon the conflict and I really loved how that was framed.

Rock Hudson does some great acting towards the end with his monologue about Roger to the newspaper crew. I like the concept of this being set at a carnival show and Sirk does a great job with these racing scenes. It is the same formula as a movie like Written On The Wind, but the characters do enough to carry the movie through. I like the use of black and white here and the city looks amazing in these night shots. The Last flight race is beautofully crafted with Jack and Roger both flying in planes at the same time and the film cuts in between each of them until the end, building with more and more tension.

Slow paced and not all that action heavy. City On Fire does do a better job at creating more tension than Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. I really liked the final act and how the robbery was orchestrated and stopped by Ko Chow.

I love the acting from Moore and Haysbert in this and I think Quaid does a great job with what he's given in this. However, I wish Haynes added one more piece to this maybe it being more scenes of Moore just being for the conversion therapy or Quaid being prejudiced against Haysbert and Moore's relationship. Where All That Heaven Allows is a somber then happy story, Far From Heaven juxtaposes that and it goes from the normal nuclear family to a utter crusher.
