Punch-Drunk Love

Probably impossible to watch this without a big grin, we need to give Adam Sandler way more credit for actually being able to act beyond being typecast as Billy Madison. The camerawork is so great and there’s tons of long takes that you don’t even realise you’re in it until it’s been four minutes and you wonder “Has there even been a cut yet?” So many small bits that add so much character to Barry like how he’ll almost always be visibly uncomfortable in a situation with his sisters but too nervous to do anything but beside be silent, or how he talks in circles not saying much and mumbling away nonsense or saying the complete wrong words. Honourable mention to Philip Seymour Hoffman for the best antagonist ever and Gail the Snail for once again being horrible.
