The Invite

One of the funniest movies I have ever scene. I think going into the movie relatively blind made me enjoy it more because I came in without any real expectations and it just blew me away. Incredibly paced and wildly energetic, the dialogue immediately draws you in and stays in high gear throughout the entire movie. Each actor is able to perfectly balance the comedy and the drama and the ability to contrast these tones elevated both elements. How much the movie makes you laugh at and with these characters makes you really care about them. Even with the tonal shift in the final act as the comedy gets turned down, I remained enthralled with what was happening because I found myself really caring about these characters and their relationship.  I also loved the sound design. The violin instrumental in the background perfectly sets the tension in every argument. Even when the tone shifts in scenes of agreement, you still feel that tension in the back that could come forth at any moment.
