awesome 99 luftballons needle drop

really fun! comparisons to ad astra, arrival, interstellar are obvious but warranted. i appreciate that the movie knows what it’s going for (more than ad astra, say), sticks consistently to a tone, and has its share of good moments. i just think a style/tone like this is inherently capped for me in how good it can really be which makes me feel like an asshole

genuinely fascinating movie. a deconstruction, of course, but fundamentally so sympathetic and compassionate to the people it portrays, even through the more ridiculous portions. Corbet and Fastvold seem fascinated with the construction and deconstruction of American myths and the process of mythologizing portions of our history. I find this pursuit fascinating and genuinely meaningful from a cultural standpoint. It just worked for me, and I left the theater genuinely impacted (way more than the germans who were laughing the whole time). The music and set design was incredible and Seyfried is genuinely amazing!

definitely not great but really fun in its own weird way. sets and technical aspects were awesome
