margaret qualley is actually the star of this movie. glen powell’s performance is played too safe and he’s not nearly unhinged enough for a guy that’s killing his family. if YOU want to watch a movie about killing your opponents, in order to advance and obtain something, that has a better performance from the lead and also looks better and has better plot, go tune in to No Other Choice TODAY!

fun idea, the execution just really lacks. a ballerina centric slasher could’ve been so much more, and i didnt expect this to be that good but i guess i was kinda surprised at how non ingenious it is. using ballet moves to kill men is fun but at the same time, the scene in the lobby, where they go through their program to kill everyone is just so…corny? and just executed so awkwardly, when the ballet aspect couldve been used in many more fun ways. uma thurman is great but if her story was touched upon more, it couldve been better. she’s just heavily underutilized in this movie, considering her last scene is possibly the best moment overall in the movie. script itself is also kinda awkward and corny and silly. also making the brown girl the one who’s heavily religious #hmm

*love is to eternally question what you know and chase after what you don’t know. *people say this has wong kar-wai influence but personally, i dont really see it (truthfully i should probably get on with my wkw watchlist soon) apart from the way colors are filmed, which i find reminiscent of most hong kong/taiwanese/chinese movies, and the way longing and desire is presented. obsession and despair, or rather hope are blended so well, it makes you question even the most minuscule details. i love the use of the unreliable narrator and the way the heart of the movie is a ‘story’ that you never truly fully comprehend if it’s real or not.
