Just beautiful. Magnificent. And come on, frog-themed murder? Don't tell me that's not the coolest thing ever.
A vibrant Italian fever dream. A fairytale for the weird film kids. My love for Jessica Harper knows no bounds.
<p>gay gay gay, so very gay, James Whale, I love you dearly</p><p>also, has made me cry</p><p>do with that what you will</p>
Jessica Harper again. 😔 Listen, I just love it when movies are pretty and feature some guy in a bird mask killing people, no big deal. Truly a visually stunning movie, and the songs are great. I used to sing them to my cat all the time.
<p>what <i>Pride and Prejudice</i> is to so many women, <i>Bram Stoker's Dracula</i> is to me<br>And yet again, I fall victim to a pretty movie. Am I no better than a mere ape? I see fancy flashing colors and I am <b>in love</b>. How simple a man am I.</p>
The best vampire/Van Helsing fight scene known to me. A classic childhood favorite for me, I always loved to see that burning windmill at the end of the movie.
One of the most haunting movies I've seen. Bette Davis plays a wonderfully unhinged villain, truly messed up.
I might like musicals, guys. 😔 I would listen to this soundtrack all the time on drives with my dad, and I would always fall asleep to Somewhere That's Green. Ellen Greene is such a perfect Audrey <3
I'm not even doing this to be a quirky movie fan like that. I just genuinely think this is so great. Incredible set design and art direction overall.
<p>The makeup in this one really holds up. I genuinely think that Max Shreck looks super creepy as Count Orlok. And when viewed with the score by the Invincible Czars? Incredible.</p>
William Castle always delivers. Anyone who argues that this is a bad movie clearly cannot grasp the concept of having fun and enjoying life.
<p>Listen, I heard that <i>Forbidden Planet </i>reference (for those who don't know, Anne Francis did, in fact, star in <i>Forbidden Planet </i>alongside Walter Pidgeon and Leslie Nielsen) in the opening number and I was <b>hooked</b>. Add in that RKO tower, and that level of admiration for older sci-fi and horror has won me over completely.<br></p>
It makes me sound utterly psychotic, but I really do think this is an incredible, very thought-provoking movie. Y'all <i>Texas Chain Saw Massacre </i>haters don't know what you're talking about.
What can I say about <i>The Exorcist </i>that has not already been said? I can't even begin to describe how much I admire this movie. Also, I swear if I see one more review of this movie talking about Father Karras being hot, I'm ending it all.
the only true <b>comic book</b> movie, A+ for being so dedicated to that style
We totally need to bring back having an arsonist locked in your attic who occasionally escapes and causes general mayhem.
that Edward Van Sloan intro goes hard, we should really start every movie with an old man coming out from behind a curtain and talking about how messed up the movie is
<p>actually <i>incredible, </i>I only wish Tod Browning could have seen how respected this movie became so long after it totally killed his career</p>
You just don't get movies with bees and their little bee coffins like this anymore.
absolutely bonkers, reggie bannister is definitely up there with my favorite horror characters of all time, my favorite ice cream man by far
The combination of George A. Romero and Tom Savini and Goblin is the formula for a fantastic movie.
Admittedly, it's a bummer and a half, which makes it very different from my typical favorites, but it's just so good. I can't help it.
One of my all time favorite movie endings. I don't know what it is, this just hits.
Honestly, I used to be deathly afraid of this movie when I was a kid. I am so grateful that I know now that this is peak silly goofy fun. Definitely the kind of movie that's perfect for watching with friends.
My relationship with crazy German movies all started here. I <i>adore</i> all the fun work with shadows here.
Honestly, I feel that have to put it in the top 100 just because I love the power move of directing a movie about witchcraft and choosing yourself to play the devil.
I have a lot of questions, but I'm not sure I need answers. I was just vibing.
My Pet Sematary hot take is that the truck driver did nothing wrong. If you get out in front of my car while I'm listening to the Ramones, I will not stop for you.
I'll always love watching some silly goofy Shakespeare murders unfolding. It's pretty much <i>The Abominable Dr. Phibes</i> if it went 100% unrestrained goofy, and I can appreciate that.
WOMEN!!!!! This right here is why I love women so much. No men could ever have what Thelma and Louise had.
This is the first Spielberg movie that I watched <i>and </i>enjoyed, very proud of myself. I came in wanting to hate it so bad, but I couldn't help loving it. Congrats, Steven, you got me.
<p>Great performances by Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi <br>Not a perfect adaptation of <i>The Island of Dr. Moreau, </i>but a fun one nonetheless</p>
Peter Cushing's performance always gets me really sad, but those feelings are so nicely balanced out by the joys of the killer Santa and the blind men's revenge, so I guess it all works out in the end.
"My love has lasted longer than the temples of our gods" is such an incredible line. Honestly, if I were in Helen's place I really wouldn't mind his trying to kill me because that was just <i>so good.</i>
Some segments are most definitely... questionable, but I just loved this movie as a kid. I think I might just like crazy Bela Lugosi or something.<br>
<p>Putting a gay vampire in your movie is a shortcut to my heart. Sick soundtrack btw</p>
Screamed so loud seeing this in the theater that my throat hurt the next day because when Vincent Price tells you to scream, you give it all you got. Such a fun concept, I love a movie that's just fun like this.
Such a perfect mix between gross and creepy and fun and goofy. Every time Bruce Campbell hits the 🤨 I lose my mind a little more.
Someone please join my coven. <i>The Craft</i> just makes it look so fun. We can dress all cool and kill men. :)
The punishment poll is my all time favorite movie gimmick. The rest of the movie is not that fantastic, but it has some fun torture sequences.
Is it funny? That's questionable at best. But is it such a nice movie to watch when I'm feeling sad and/or it's fall? <b>Absolutely</b>.
<i>All That Jazz </i>is so incredible that it would easily make it on this list even if I only considered the last 10 minutes.
I am so emotionally attached to <i>A Christmas Story</i> that if I am somewhere on Christmas Day that is not playing the 24 hour marathon, I am on my deathbed. Like, I know I've seen The Old Man strangle that Christmas tree about a thousand times, but I'm shooting for that 1,001. <b>Show me the movie.</b>
I am praying so hard to have my own little lighthouse that houses my own little radio station. <i style="font-weight: bold;">Please</i>, I just want to be Stevie Wayne. Life is cruel. Also, this movie is so beautiful. It would be so much higher up on this list if Tom Atkins wasn't in it. (I hate that man for no discernible reason)
The riot grrrls love this one, and it's so easy to see why. This is such a fun little punk rock 'men suck, so let's run through the streets of New York living our best lives and creating an army of cool women' movie. Also, I love you, Tim Curry.
Try as I might, I will never be Riff Randell dancing through the ruins of her high school as the Ramones play behind her. I guess I'll never find peace 😔
LET'S GO CANADAAAA!!! Y'ALL HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK WITH THIS ONE 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🥞🍁🍁🥞<br>It's cheap. It's corny. It's somehow entertaining. It's everything I could ever want out of a movie with a murderous miner.
You guys I <i>swear</i> I'm not that much of a nerd. Life is so unfair sometimes. I can never beat the nerd allegations if I am a Monty Python <i>and</i> Lord of the Rings enjoyer. Y'all, I swear I'm cool. 😭
I know it's not <i>Rocky Horror</i>, but I don't care, it's still so much fun. Also, <i>Shock Treatment </i>Janet's songs are way more in my range. Thank you, Jessica Harper.
Never before has a movie freaked me out so badly that I needed to watch some therapeutic Monty Python afterwards. You can say what you want about the camerawork and acting being terrible, but I think that it combines to create a very realistic, terrifying feel.
absolutely incredible in 3D<br>the corny 3D gimmicks (paddleball guy, punch being thrown towards the camera, etc) may seem corny in 2D, but they are so much fun in 3D
Iconic Dracula and Van Helsing performances. The rest of the movie is fine, but I hate how they switch up the characters from the original book for no reason.
If that was my kid, I would have just let the doll kill him. None of my business.
It's cute and fun, okay? It's not my fault I fell in love with this movie. And don't even get me started on those random musical numbers (that really don't make much sense, but it's fine). <b>Peak</b> meaningless silly goofy cinema.
It's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine (it is so clear that this is made by men, for men), but there's just something so special about that unintentional, unrestrained goofiness that's masquerading as men doing cool things.
I heard the first few notes of this movie's score (during a live performance by Claudio Simonetti's Goblin) and I knew I was gonna vibe with this movie <i>so hard.</i>
Ow my eyes<br>I like birds and opera and <i>The Sound of Music</i> and Dario Argento and Claudio Simonetti, so this is just a great experience for me
I will not watch your zombie movie if you do not have at least one scene of your characters trying to enjoy their post-apocalyptic world. The scene in the grocery store is the perfect example of adding levity to a zombie movie. I just don't want to watch zombie movies when they have such a tendency to be a bummer and a half.
Things I Love:<br>-women<br>-roller derby<br>-a sports movie that doesn't end with the underdogs winning the big championship<br>-women<br>-a fun soundtrack<br>-Elliot Page<br>-women<br><br>Things I Hate:<br>-Jimmy Fallon
Calling this movie <i>The Bird with the Crystal Plumage</i> only for the titular bird to look like <i style="font-weight: bold;">that</i> is insane and deserving of jail time. Don't worry, Italians. I still love you and your incredible horror movies.
Yeah, sure, <i>The Two Towers</i> is good, but y'all are forgetting about the <b>whimsy</b>(!!!) of <i>Fellowship</i>.
I know it's not necessarily my vibe, but Julie Andrews is a national treasure nonetheless.
If it is not already abundantly clear to all that I do not care how traditionally "good" or "well-made" a movie is, my thoughts on <i>Silent Night, Deadly Night</i> will surely show it.<br>Is it corny? Yes. Is it sleazy? <i>Yes. </i>But there is just something about all the Christmas-themed violence and priest murder that is charming and unbearably entertaining.
I think that normal Patrick Swayze is a little ugly, but Patrick Swayze in drag? Now we're talking. This is such a fun, comforting movie, though. It's nothing if not a good time.
It's so sweet. Every time I watch <i>Paddington 2, </i>I can't help crying. I think after I watch this movie, for a span of a couple days, I become exponentially kinder.
WE'RE MARLEY AND MARLEY <i>WOOOOOOOOOOO</i><br>Paul Williams killed it with these songs fr
I love a lesbian love story with a happy ending. I feel so much better about the world after watching this.
<p><i>I killed Liz. I killed the teen dream. Deal with it.</i><br>Only, like, one of the most iconic movie endings I've seen in a while.</p>
Just out of curiosity: what is ee-ooo and why must I have it? Anyways, I love how this takes place on the AIP studio lot. I think it's so creative to do a story about the special effects makeup guy.
It's commonly thought that the intro with Frank C. Baxter is boring and unnecessary, but I always loved it. Tell me all about what you think the center of the earth looks like. I'll never get tired of it. Also, I love those mole people.
<p>Generally speaking, if a movie has William Shatner in it, it's going to be an <i>experience. </i>Luckily, <i>The Devil's Rain </i>is no exception. This movie is the best kind of strange and incomprehensible.</p>
My dad loves this movie and will always yell "YOO-HOO, YOUR FATHER'S DEAD" whenever we watch it. He just loves Fedor's entrance.
Now <i>that</i> is love. Everybody <i>wishes</i> they have what Gomez and Morticia had.
This is a <i>very</i> out-of-place choice for this list, but it's kinda nice. It's pretty, and I enjoyed just about everything short of the egg scene. That was so hard to watch for me.
Seeing <i>Beetlejuice</i> totally changed who I was when I was younger. I just love the whole style of the movie. And what a fantastic cast too.
What is going on with BDSM Kristen Bell here? Anyways, I hate to say it, but I really do think I just enjoy musicals. I had a pretty good time watching this. 😔
This is 100% a hill I will die on: Home Alone 2 is better than the first one. I will not be entertaining any arguments. I mean, Tim Curry is in this one, how can it be worse?
This is probably one of very few movies that I like but will likely never watch again. This is absolutely brutal but in a way that is kinda satisfying to watch.
<i>Freeway </i>is an absolutely incredible white trash Little Red Riding Hood. Reese Witherspoon has been forever changed in my mind.
It's a pretty fun movie, but I absolutely cannot decide if the costuming is cute or ugly. I think that might just be an 80s thing though.
<p>S<i>tand By Me </i>is just such a charming movie, so sincere. A childhood must-watch film. Just a fun fact: my mother cannot for the life of her remember who does the narration. The first time, she asked if it was Matthew Broderick. Then, she asked if it was Kevin Bacon. Next time? Who knows?</p>
I was so emotionally attached to my Barbie Video Girl that seeing her in this movie was a near-religious experience for me. Thanks to <i>Barbie</i> for helping me make contact with who I was as a child.
You know, I don't love the implications here of Dracula facilitating the slave trade, but William Marshall's classy performance as Prince Mamuwalde has me <i>almost </i>prepared to forgive that.
