love me some weirdo for weirdo no but fr this is really one of those movies where either you get it or you don’t. like the themes of autonomy and kink are explored through the lense of being an outcast and of being unable to relate to what is considered normal and therefore “correct”. like this is the literal point the movie makes in the personification of her boring fiancé - she rejects societal expectations and paves her own way. The entire movie is her regaining agency and confidence in who she is, as well as finding someone else who is just as “wrong” as she is. this movie is so dear to my heart and the more I think of its themes the more I appreciate it.
