Lost Highway
A couple of notes:
1. I have no idea what happens during this entire movie
2. I have no idea what any of it means
3. This is awesome and incredible and I want to watch it 100 times
also the Mystery Man is the most terrifying character ever put to screen. Will have nightmares. How is this not labelled horror?
Anyway I think the most interesting way to look at this is that the "truth" of the events put to screen are never shown to us; we only get a weird, fractured reality split between multiple perspectives, times, and levels of sanity. It's pretty sick. As so many others have said, the line
"I like to remember things my own way... How I remembered them. Not necessarily the way they happened"
is central to the film, and the angle with which this makes the most sense. To me, anyway.
