this is triggering me this is triggering me this is triggering me I honestly only watched this film because I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I kept hearing people calling it “freaky” and weird, others saying it’s psychologically brutal—which is lowkey my fav combination loll as someone who also has a complicated relationship with my mother, I know for sure that living with a controlling parent can create a repressed yet functional child. the very first scene alone made it unsettling for me bc mothers are high key little bitches, sometimes.. I don’t want to reduce this to a “freaky” film. Even though much of the movie shows her unusual sexual preferences, it’s clearly about so much more than that, SHE'S more than that. And yes, the long camera focus on her face was absolutely necessary
