Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane is a film that, despite being over 80 years old, deals with a theme that is still incredibly relevant today: "success does not guarantee happiness." The story follows a journalist trying to solve a small mystery (the meaning of the word "Rosebud") but he ultimately ends up discovering the sad reality of Charles Foster Kane's life.
What struck me the most wasn’t the plot itself, but the way it is told. The film is essentially a puzzle: we don’t see Kane's life in chronological order, but through the memories of those who knew him. In this way, we discover a man who, as a youth, wanted to change the world and help the weak, but who over time became a prisoner of his own ambition and enormous wealth.
It is the portrait of a man who bought everything except the one thing he truly desired: the carefree innocence of when he was a poor child in the snow. A classic that deserves to be watched slowly, letting yourself be carried away by its elegant and somewhat melancholy rhythm...
