At first, I thought it was a crime thriller, but now that I've finished it, I see it more as a psychological and existential horror. It’s really about loneliness, social repression, and fragility of the human mind, and it pulls it off perfectly.
Given the message the movie is trying to convey, I don't think they could have come up with a more perfect ending...
