I guess, but surely love is more important than money or fame? Neither of them ended up with the person they loved.

Forget money and fame. They both had dreams for what they wanted with their lives and achieved them. I don’t think they’d sacrifice that to be together again, especially considering they found love elsewhere, or at least Mia did and I’m sure Sebastian will. I think them smiling to each other at the end also indicates that they’re content with how life has turned out and are genuinely happy for each other. Also they didn’t date that long, was basically a fling.
