Anora
" Ani: Oh, stay jealous, babe. Stay jealous, honey. Jealousy is a disease, remember that, Diamond. I'm just gonna go chill in my mansion or whatever, you know, no big deal!"
Suprisingly i LOVED this movie. It deserved all the good things that it earned.
Anora’s character was just so touching — how she thought she was living an fairytale that would end up being her life but didn’t.
**'Vanya : Will You Marry Me?'
'Ani: Seriously?'
'Vanya: Seriously.'
'Ani: Three Carats.'
'Vanya: What About Four?'**
From the very beginning I didn’t exactly like Vanya, and I think that’s exactly what the movie was reaching for. We were not supposed to like him, but to grow into his character and understand him. We were given backstory which could eventually help us to understand his actions and why he did it. The way he treated Anora like a princess but at the same time never really respected her. It left the viewer confused why he suddendly left — but not suprised.
**”Happy birthday to me.
Ani: Hmm? Was today your birthday?
Igor: No. Yesterday was my birthday.
Ani: Yesterday was your fucking birthday?
Igor: I was 30.
Ani: Mm. Happy fucking birthday, I guess
Igor: Thank you. I like Anora. I mean I like Anora more than Ani.
Ani: Okay. Says the fuck head named Igor.”**
Igor was one of my favorite characters. The way we knew he wasn’t exactly a ”good guy” but he wasn’t bad either. The banter between Igor and Anora kept me on the edge of my seat during the whole movie.
The ending scene in the car shares many mixed opinions, but I kinda found it beautiful. How Anora couldn’t bring herself to kiss Igor because that would mean she actually liked someone after going through what she went with Vanya.
What I would snack with this movie:
food : classic burger and fries from a diner🍟 🍔
drink : pink russian 🇷🇺 🍸
