Atonement
"Robbie: I will return. I will find you, love you, marry you. And live without shame."
I was in literal pieces after watching this movie, and I mean full on BAWLING.
In the beginning of this movie I have to admit I was very sceptical. Why did Robbie send the odd letter to Cecilia (I was mildly shocked), and most of all why is Benedict Cumberbatch playing a predator?? Obviously as she story unraveled I began to slowly understand and cling myself into the plot.
**“Briony: Yes I saw him, I saw him with my own eyes.”
**
I rarely feel burning anger whilst watching a movie, but this time was an exception. I was so mad I could bearly bring myself to understand Briony at all. At first I found myself very found of her. The way she wrote plays like I did and how she seemed a lot like myself as younger. And when I look back at it, I understand. She was a child who was afraid something bad would happen to her dear older sister.
**“Briony: I gave them their happiness.”
**
Not that I forgive her actions, and definitely not after the ending scene, but I simply understand her a little more.
**“Cecilia: Robbie...
Robbie: Cecilia...
Cecilia: I love you...
Robbie: I love you.”
**
The way he didn’t even say “I love you too”, because he didn’t want it to feel like he was just saying it to answer to her — but because he actually meant it. They would have deserved the happy ending they almost got. They would have deserved to live near the beach like they’ve always dreamt of. The library scene in the beginning changed lives.
“Robbie: The story can resume.”
Cecilia died thinking Robbie was still alive and that he’d one day return to her.
What I would snack with this movie:
food : rosemary-roasted chicken
