Apocalypse Now
“It’s not a war film. It’s a slow descent into the soul, narrated by madness in iambic pentameter.”
I pressed play expecting guns and grit. What I got was a sweaty, slow-motion existential crisis in the jungle, narrated by Martin Sheen’s inner monologue and Brando’s forehead.
Time doesn’t pass in this movie it melts. The river isn’t just a setting; it’s a metaphor for losing your mind very gradually and with style.
Is it propaganda? Is it anti-war? Is it just Coppola losing his grip with a camera rolling? Yes. All of it. And somehow, it’s perfect.
