Fracture
Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling carry this almost entirely on their own, and thankfully every scene they share is captivating. Hopkins is clearly having the time of his life, while Gosling’s Southern accent occasionally wanders off and does its own thing.
Gregory Hoblit once again proves that he knows how to make a slick, entertaining thriller, even if this never reaches the heights of Primal Fear. For a film that presents itself as intelligent and sophisticated, there isn’t quite enough depth beneath the surface to make it truly memorable.
The supporting cast unfortunately fades into the background. Rosamund Pike, in particular, is criminally underused.
Still, I had a good time with it. The Hopkins/ Gosling duo is a lot of fun, even if the more I think about the legal logic, the more questions I have.
Shout out Charlie Swan!
