Practical Magic

Practical Magic isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. I love this movie entirely for its vibe. Witches, the house, the sisters, the late ‘90s softness, the way magic feels domestic and emotional instead of grand. It’s cozy and strange and a little messy, and that messiness is part of the charm. The tonal shifts shouldn’t work, yet somehow they do, like real life, where grief and warmth exist at the same time. This is a comfort movie, an and a feeling-more-than-a-film movie.
