A Clockwork Orange
Prison reformation is a topic that I’m very fascinated by. In America, we throw someone in prison for a majority of their life after they kill someone, leaving them unable to participate in society once they are out. Our prison system is so poor and overpopulated to where once you are put in prison, it becomes a label applied with superglue. Even if you’re no longer in prison, that jumpsuit is still on you.
Alex’s actions are despicable and completely unforgivable. Does this mean he is completely incapable of changing and becoming what one might deem a “good” person? I’ve always loved the variety of answers you can get from that question. I personally believe that people, regardless of the horrors of their crimes, can change. It’s a shame Alex never really got a chance to prove he could.
