First Reformed
Don’t have an excuse as to why I waited this long to watch First Reformed but I’m glad I finally did! Ethan Hawke is fantastic in his role as Rev. Toller - a man full of complexity and surrounded by despair. It is a slow-burn but the flame lasts beyond the end credits. Paul Schrader’s fiery themes are relevant and therefore all the more frightening. Also, this is one of the best-looking digital films I’ve seen in recent years.
