5 stars, easy. I sobbed five times during this movie. I think every Asian kid needs to watch this. The monologue with his mum, where she tells him she’ll always be proud of him and could never be ashamed:( I love that instead of the typical ending where he gets the girl after changing everything about himself, he just signs up for the photography club. It’s so much more real. Also the ending has no dramatic finale just Chris quietly moving forward, slowly repairing friendships, and sitting down for dinner with his mom. THE absolute last moment when nothing was said between Chris and his mum says everything.
