Beckham
tbf i don’t even care about Becks all that much (man city fan) but one of my biggest regrets of all time is to not have been born 30 years earlier than i was, in Manchester, so that i could’ve had a chance with Gary fucking Neville.
for real though, this series was great, it’s got a very personal approach to Beckham that really helps connect with the man. it’s quite endearing to see how much everyone they interviewed clearly loves him, as well. also, the editing was so snazzy, really fun.
the two lowest points of his career were the aftermath of that red card with his and Victoria’s marriage issues in Spain, and the point im trying to make is that i reckon both of those events weren’t even his fault. the real issue was how the media made the situations escalate to truly alarming ends when you think about it. it’s sweet to see those images of his relationship with Victoria but it’s quite sickening too, how scrutinised they were. im not sure if the documentary really wanted to put emphasis on that aspect, but it definitely startled me to some point.
i didn’t like those random shots where he was just staring in the camera for no reason though
