The first thing I noticed was the crisp quality that it has compared to Stiller's previous film, Herr Arnes Pengar (1919). This film's video quality really took a huge jump. It is really hard to remember the faces tho.
Btw, what are these reaction faces, maybe it is for the comedic effect.
Gotta admit that the initial pacing is very slow, the scenes could have been tighter considering that the long sequences don't add anything to the story.
"Jag har aldrig sett dig vackrare än idag,"
Is this really a compliment?
It is funny to see so many similar instances of the film to today's rom-coms, like nothing has changed, people are still the same, even after 100 years.
An act in an act, I loved this.
One thing that deserves criticism is that Stiller gave too little time for the audience to digest everything. There wasn't really a good suspense buildup and it hit us all of a sudden instead of unraveling slowly.
The performance of the husband and his best friend was phenomenal after the truth (maybe a truth) was discovered. I wish we could have seen more of their interaction.
Nonetheless, beautiful film
