The Hunt
I kept asking myself who to blame, and every time I landed somewhere, it didn't feel right.
Was I mad AT the child? No. She's just a child, confused, impressionable, and trying to make sense of feelings she doesn't understand. There's no malice there, just innocence colliding with something too big for her.
Was I mad ABOUT how she acted? Absolutely furious. But even then, how much blame can you place on someone who doesn't fully grasp reality yet? She didn't know what she was setting into motion, she's a literal child, acting out of frustration, absolutely clueless about what was going on.
Was I mad AT the parents? Not even a little. If I was told that my child was sexually abused by his teacher, I would've reacted a thousand times worse. Are we for real? That kind of fear overrides logic instantly. It's terrifying, and their response was totally legitimate.
What really got to me was how everything spiraled. The way the community turned, the way suspicion became certainty without proof, it was brutal to watch. I was upset the entire time. But I couldn't even be fully angry at them either. Because in a world where people who commit those kinds of crimes exist, that level of outrage doesn't come from nowhere. It's misplaced here, tragically so, but it's rooted in a very real fear.
That's what makes this film so unsettling. No villains, just people reacting the way people do, messy, emotional, and sometimes devastatingly wrong.
It's not a story about good vs evil. It's about how fragile truth is when fear gets involved. And how quickly a life can be destroyed, not by monsters, but by ordinary people convinced they're doing the right thing.
