Beautiful show. I’ve always loved the philosophical exploration of determinism. But god do I wish DARK was on here, because I think it pulls off a similar effect in such a beautiful package

As someone who hasn’t played the game, I think there were a lot of weird ideas to conceptualise in this film. The narrative itself was enjoyable, but by the end, it definitely left a lot of things unanswered. The whole time I felt like it was trying to convey a deeper philosophical exploration of the soul, but when I looked, all I found was a ‘cool video game story’. The production was mixed. The set and practical effects were quite cool, but a lot of scenes were far too dark, making it hard to follow a lot of shot transitions. The mix and master also left a bit to be desired. I found myself adjusting my EQ just to hear vocals over an extremely loud low shelf. At first, I thought it was my setup, but I had the same issue on calibrated reference headphones. Overall, though, given the production costs of the film and the piece created, it’s still truly impressive, and Mark’s acting was actually really good. So I’m excited to see what he brings us in the future! Ps. God, there were a lot of macro shots of dripping fluids 😭
