‘Weenathon 2025: 22/37 Maybe just write fiction instead It’s incredible how much this movie still gets under my skin over a decade later. Knowing that something is going to happen and yet it still gets me. What makes a lot of this movie very effective is the music and sound design. Just some amazing using of both that can put you on edge or start to get a little bit of cold sweats. Is it actually perfect? No. It has some pacing issues as it reaches the third act, there’s an ebbing of tension that really hurts the climax and draws away much of the impact it could have had. But the movie always sticks with me for a few days afterward, making me look over my shoulder every so often, being cautious of the sounds around the house and being that bit more on edge in the dark. Not many movies affect me like that and that’s why I love this one.
