Alien

Genuinely amazing movie. Despite some stupid character decisions and the cat being a cheap plot device, it's really effective in creating atmosphere and being actually scary. I didn't expect this to be a slow burn but this movie is well paced and it's payoff is well worth the build up. Ripley is a great character and the crew are likable or engaging enough for me to actually care for them. The cinematography is incredible and it has great usage of lighting to create the atmosphere and tone. The score is great and I like how it's both unnerving and mysterious. The set and creature design still look fresh. Just a wonderful time from start to finish.
