City Lights

84/100 I couldn't stop smiling watching this movie. Every gag is precise and well choreographed, every orchestra hit breathes life to every hit, and everything is meticulously staged. Not every joke lands (couldn't care less for the wine pouring on his pants bit) but it's so lighthearted and sweet that even its worst moments aren't big problems. Some jokes are a bit too silly in concept but Chaplin sells it with his eccentric charms. The boxing match in particular is tremendous and an utter work of art.
