wow. if any movie is deserving of an oscar, it's this one. the pure frustration, heartache, and grief this movie brought, and the realities of death and childbirth, in all its suffering... amazing performances from EVERY. SINGLE. ACTOR. i was absolutely blown away by the children in this film. it's very slow but it's one of those movies that wouldn't work if it wasn't. ain't no one get a happy ending in 1596
