I’m a bit stunned to be honest. Firstly at the sheer magnitude of this work….but secondly at its mostly middle of the road reception and apparent fade into obscurity among conversations of the defining biopics this century.  Now I don’t know if I’ve just been uniquely affected by experiencing such a gorgeous 35mm distribution print….or if I’m simply having a good day, but Ali has knocked me out cold. A tapestry of black excellence and the place of an icon within the culture at a crucial inflection point of religious and racial activist tensions. Mann masterfully weaves a journey to immortalised greatness whilst keeping it grounded in the raw truth and honesty of the social climate. All star African American cast. I could say so much more.  Exceptional picture.
