i exclusively watch hardcore violent & dark movies with insane plot twists

again, yes absolutely

so disgusting absolutely yes i love it

**what i liked about this movie:** the music was fun. the actors were great. 😈 **what i disliked about this movie:** - way too long and a bit of a snoozefest - 90% of it is men screaming or drowning or fighting, if dude wanted to make another war movie he could've picked the iliad instead. - nolan dumbed down odysseus? why did he take out the Nobody bit with the cyclop and made odysseus SHOOT HIM GRATUITIOUSLY INSTEAD? made no sense. - the women✨️ first of all, circe my beloved. know circe's scene is already considered incredible by everyone. "back to your disguises" blablabla. i loved the pig scene!! but circe isn't an old unkempt misandrist, she's literally a demigod, daughter of helios titan of the SUN. i really like samantha morton and her acting was incredible, but no. circe is a lonely exiled woman, traumatised by men because men come and pillage and rape and leave. she doesn't turn men into pigs in prediction. she turns them because they already overstayed. odysseus and his mates stay for a year with circe. odysseus loves her. circe loves him. he never outsmarted her, she literally let him go. nolan absolutely oversimplified this because HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT FEMALE CHARACTERS. + in many versions of the odyssey, telemachus ends up marrying circe. how does that even work with an old misandrist and a daddy's boy? it doesn't lmao. penelope. poor girl. i get that she's supposed to be the feminist icon in the movie (nolan chose the easy way). he gave her three super cheesy lines about feminism and girl power and boom, done✨️ now back to the SWORDS AND THE BLOOD🤟🏻 calypso is a complex character. she's not a desperate nymphomaniac. she never drugged odysseus and he stayed WILLINGLY. for seven years. because dude cannot miss out on sex with a nymph. that's in every single version except for nolan's, because dude chose to turn his main character into a victim (i will absolutely get back on that) clytemnestra is shown as a villain when her husband literally killed their daughter lmao. of course he's not going to get a warm welcome. but no no no. nolan gives agamemnon aura. out of all people. agamemnon deserves the aura and the darth vader entrance. GIVE A WOMAN SOME AURA. athena is the fucking goddess of war and wisdom. she fights gods for her protege odysseus and nolan converts her into a fucking hallucination? NO. - dear christopher, you don't have to make your main character likable for the movie to be good. you don't have to force empathy on the audience for a man who chose to take the long way because he was sick of following orders lmao. i promise people are smart enough to appreciate a morally grey main character🙂↕️ no need to soften him for everyone - the only dialog between 2 women is melantho betraying penelope. why???? no one knows. nolan invented that out of nowhere and of course he created a feud between 2 women and of course it's about wanting to fuck a man :) OF COURSE nolan has the right to reinvent the Odyssey. everyone does and everyone has and everyone always will. the legend isn't some sacralised stable thing. my problem isn't this. my problem is that this director chose to rewrite it in such a derogatory and male-centered way in 2026. don't rewrite the odyssey if it's to worsen the image of half of the characters bc they're women. i want greta gerwig instead of the director that just isn't interested in filming women. i want feeling. i want whimsy. i want magical. i want a movie that's not grey all the time. i want a movie that focuses on more than a single man's guilt and swords and overusing the word 'platelicker'. he turned the biggest legend of western europe into a bro movie🤧 THIS IS THE ODYSSEY WE'RE TALKING ABOUT GODDAMIT. NOW SUE ME. also please read Emily Wilson's review of the adaptation. she's the translator of the Odyssey.

this is a shit breakup movie why are they so cute
