The Batman
You can't imagine the things I've done to see this film.
Let me start of by saying that what I write is not a critique or a review; what it is, is a love letter:
It started off on a morning that I woke up early because I knew there was going to be a trailer for the anticipated new batman movie and there it was, the trailer. After seeing it I felt like I just saw something amazing, something... personal...to me; as if it was handcrafted for me. To be honest with you not even god knows how many times I watched that first trailer, over and over and over again, a day wouldn't go by without me watching that trailer at least once.
Ever since then I followed the movie and its production very closely (you can ask the people around me). Every little detail or small piece of news was something to make my day. I promised myself I wanted to watch this movie in cinema, for once I wanted to have an effect, to be there, to experience it.
Now why is this such a big deal you might ask and that's because my country doesn't show international movies so the only way possible for me was to get out of the country. I took my decision, a year and a half ago I decided to somehow get myself to another country and watch this movie; a lot of daydreaming a lot of planning, where should I go, how should I go because this was also my first ever trip to another country, (yes my first ever trip to another country was to watch a god damn movie).
Now this was not an easy task for many reasons, a few being: because of money issues, because of my country's restrictions and many incidents that happened along the way, as for an example cancellation of my flight, twice! So obviously at this point I was quite defeated, I had so many reasons to give up, to call it all bullshit, to say that this is just a movie and nothing more, to let it go.
But for some god forsaken reason I kept going, I saw myself at this crossing that I could either just give up and leave my dream behind or if I could just push a little bit more I just might be able to do it, however at that point I lost all my hope entirely because of all the things that kept it from happening but long story short I took my fucking decision and I just went for it one last time and what do you know, it actually fucking happened.
The day had come, the day that I stand in front of that door with the batman poster on it and knowing that inside of that door is the very thing I've been dreaming about for years, this is the moment I've been waiting for.
The movie began, my eyes were gliding all over the screen, checking every inch of detail, absorbing every drop of information, carefully listening to every single line as if it was the last thing I'll ever do. It made me tear up a few times just thinking about the fact that I'm actually here, I'm actually watching this, I'm actually experiencing it.
The movie finished and you know what was the first thing I did? I went back in and watched it again. And then again the day after; I've watched this movie three times in two days and it was worth it every time.
What to even say about the movie?
Should I talk about its stunning cinematography? Its eye-catching color grading? It's phenomenal score? The personal favourite noir element? The anticipated detective part of batman? It's unbelievable cast? The amazing performances from every single actor?
Man...
Is this the best film created by man? Maybe yes, maybe no, what's important is that I love this movie and I will forever remember it.
This will be one of the stories I'll tell my children later on.
