Lady Bird
I know what Kyle (Timothée) did to Ladybird was awful. But GOD, he is so cool. Also, the dynamic relationship between Ladybird and her Mother weirdly attributes to a lot of modern day relationships with teenagers and their parents. With ever changing situations and problems, the Mother is constantly trying to reconnect someone that is gradually disappearing, which is the Ladybird she once knew. As Ladybird gets older, her independency grows, interests and aspirations begin to diverge from her Mother’s. which unintentionally hurts the Mother who still tries to grasp to the past and struggles to adjust to the new person Ladybird/Christine is becoming. I think a lot of people can relate to this, which is why this film captivates this theme tremendously.
