Signs
kay so being genuinely vulnerable is one of my most hated things to do, but this movie means so much to me, it’s actually hard to explain.
i can completely understand why people wouldn’t like it, as it isn’t technically a true “horror” movie, but also if you think it’s bad, you’re just admitting that you don’t care about plot, and only scares. (jokes)
i connect to this on a very personal level so i’m probably just biased, but as someone who is going through a crisis of faith this year brought on by sudden family death… this movie gets me.
when he’s holding his son in the basement saying “i hate you” damn it got me.
i love the acting, and the characters in this. i love how isolated it feels (and is).
the dinner scene?! sobbing.
again i can genuinely understand why people don’t like this movie, but it’s very special to me and it fundamentally changed me as a person.
re-watching this was a reminder
a: of why i want to make movies, and tell stories
b: you can be angry, and redeemed
c: it will get better
soooo anyway i really love this movie, and it makes me sad when people hate on it or on me for liking it so much because of all of the above reasons, but ya know it’s the way of the world.
last note: very ethel cain coded
*“if it’s meant to be, then it will be
so i met him there, and told him i believe”*
