ever watch a movie at the perfect moment

After watching this film for the first time I honestly sat in my room and wondered how I hadn’t heard of it before. I went to search for what I assumed to be many award nominations and wins and was shocked to find a singular award win not from a major festival/award show. The majority of reviews I’ve read have critiqued the choice of cuts, line repetition, and hazy switches in between memory and present but I feel like this truly is the most accurate depiction. While a lot of these things at surface level could be deemed overdone or cheesy, I feel that the script writing and Sennott’s general acting and characterization of Sam make these edits feel real. I just feel that in this context the editing choices aren’t overdone but rather fuel the narrative and bring an additional realism to Sam’s mind. I think this film was snubbed (most likely due to its content) and that there should be a post mortem Oscar called the “Snubbed” award where we can recognize films like these in the years after they’ve been released. Another great Rachel Sennott film
