Ikiru
One thing this movie taught me was i am not a pretty crier
not only does this film convey some of the most important messages we will ever have to know as humans, but it also shows one message that I don’t think it even knew it was doing so. Ikiru came out in 1952, 7 years after the war. In that war, Japan committed horrifying and unimaginable war crimes and acts that even my family had to fight against. In this film though, it teaches the message on stereotype. from a country still recovering from that savagery and violence by its own men, Kurosawa decides to make a film that captures the raw and emotional side of human being. a Japanese human being. it ignored the stereotype back then of cruelty and showed the world that not all men and women had that thirst for blood and bravery. some men are afraid of death. some men are even afraid to live
