Monster
I thought this was a horror movie, i’m not sure where I heard that or why I thought it but i’m truly certain that God wanted me to see this movie today. I sobbed SO HARD. I feel myself having a loss for words but i’ll try my hardest to express how i’m feeling. This movie is anything but devastating, and at first I did think that’s where this film was headed, but I couldn’t be happier it didn’t. Coming out when all who you look up to and surround yourself with disagree is horrifying, it feels as if you’ll never be happy again- how do you live a life where everyone you’ve loved is disappointed? how do you live a life where you will never truly feel full? There are moments that I regret coming out to my family, moments where I wish I wasn’t gay. I’ll never fully understand the minds of those who are disgusted by love but above all else I pity them, because the joy that I feel when I am utterly and truly myself is the greatest joy I ever feel. So, thank God i cannot be reborn. So many Queer films end with tragedy, and although this reflects reality- so many real stories are unbelievably encouraging such as this one. This isn’t the end to a story, it’s the beginning and I can only hope that those who have yet to accept their truth realize that accepting it it not the end, it’s the beginning of so much more.
if only some people can have it, that’s not happiness, that’s just nonsense.
