Boots Riley exploded into the scene with Sorry To Bother You back in 2018 and then he was silent for 5 LONG years. Boots is finally back with what is basically a Way of Water length movie. This is every bit as bonkers as Sorry To Bother You. This was 7 episodes of pure brilliance. Between this and The Bear there is some top tier TV coming out right now. There’s this quote in this first episode that really suck with me. I always wondered what having a friend was. Now I know it’s like bass. Like the bass coming out of this speaker, friends can make you feel inside of yourself and the rest of the world at the same time. Jharrel Jerome does such an incredible job playing Cootie. The effects making him 13 foot tall were done flawlessly. They could’ve just made him CGI but Riley uses really well done practical effects instead. The entire supporting cast gets really strong moments to shine. Olivia Washington has such a fascinating story that was such a surprise. Kara Young also deserves a shoutout for having some of the best monologue in recent memory. I hope her scene reach people because she’s is really just trying to explain her point of view. In my opinion her monologues were just so well written. Walton Goggins ties this whole this up together brilliantly. He was too funny. His tower bringing the floors to him instead of him just using an elevator was some hilarious shit but also made for a really great visual. Boots Riley hit an absolute fucking home run with I’m a Virgo as far as I’m concerned. I hope this blows up and is huge because it totally deserves it. As a Virgo myself I love getting such unique representation in media.
