The Breakfast Club

Ugh this movie is so over hyped for no reason. The first half of the movie was a bore, the characters suck, there’s nothing meaningful happening. Bender is just framed as this tortured rebel and his abuse is awful but that does not give him a pass to be a dick to everyone around him. He just goes around, saying mean stuff to other people and when someone snaps back he just starts babbling about how hard it is for him. Like yes we know it’s hard for you, but it’s not hard to be a bit civil to other people around you. He’s constantly sexually harassing Claire, making remarks about her, even making physical advances and somehow we’re supposed to think that it’s hot? Like it’s some troubled bad boy + rich good girl= 😍 Like, hello? Even 13 year old wattpad authors give more depth to their characters. Also— Allison’s Makeover, was such a shame. It was probably the worst part of the film and very unnecessary. You take out the charm out of the person and turn them into a male fantasy? Besides, Addy already liked her as she was. And they just had to make it into another glow up fantasy. The implication that she needed to be conventionally feminine to get a boy to kiss her is very dated. I guess this was all, although I have more to say. ps. one star for the dance sequences and vibes
