I’m not sure how well this would hold up without the IMAX viewing experience but this was actually phenomenal. Usually I’m not a biggest fan of these blockbuster epics (apart from dune), but this really blew me away in the theatre. I was skeptical going into the film because Nolan’s casting choice seemed way too A-list for this story to me, yet it did work and it wasn’t an issue at all. ***The Odyssey ***is both ridiculously epic but also very reflective, a lot more reflective than I was anticipating, and yet made me enjoy it more. It’s got moments of genuine horror which makes me very much wanting Nolan to tackle a horror movie next. He’s definitely got what it takes. I’ve got a lot more thoughts on this but can’t really word it so I’m just gonna leave it. This isn’t my type of film. But I can’t deny that it’s crazy good and it’s made me appreciate the epic genre way more.
