Edith. Girl. You cannot tell me that moving to the solitary mountain, famous for red clay turning it red, was not obviously the crimson peak your ghost mother warned you about. After she gets married it basically becomes a comedy when they arrive at Hiddleston’s home, there are so many red flags!!! 🚩🚩!! “Watch out for the hole in the ceiling. Also the dangerous mines below mean the house is always making noise and weeping red fluid onto the floors. Oh and the bath tub runs blood red too. And it’s damp everywhere. Oh and there are dead bugs everywhere and the tea is bad and it’s so cold in the house. Oh and my sister stalks around giving you dagger eyes. The chimneys even form a vacuum and the house breathes. And seriously there’s a giant hole in the ceiling and we just live with that.” The direction even leans into this - the gentle pan to the creepy mannequin heads watching them mack sent me Turned back on the gothic seriousness for the finale though. Wonderful mood piece to just put on and think about ghosts

I’ll be honest, I started this because some podcasters I enjoy are in it - which sounds like it should be a death knell - but turns out it’s really fucking funny! Surprisingly understated given how bonkers it gets. Very funny and weird and idiosyncratic.

A week at the foggy, dank moors would fix me. I've never seen any of the Rathbone Holmes flicks, and I gotta say, banger start. Rapidly establishes Holmes as a drama-serving detective who loves dressing up as the Resident Evil 4 shopkeep or dropping cryptic lines whilst staring off into the distance. All joking aside, this is a moody and well-paced film. The moors are a gorgeous set, full of deep shadows and fog and mood. The ending is unintentionally hilarious. I guess when you're done, you're done.

Leica De Niro Nikon Skarsgård The blocking of the surgery scene is crazy, they really don’t make ‘em like that anymore
