i thought this movie would be drastic or something that you’d cry over for hours. but it was just a movie describing the relationship between a father and his daughter.
it shows us that the 11 year old daughter is an extremely smart girl, trying to protect her father or even trying, without even knowing, to cheer him up and get him out of this unidentified depression. she doesn’t see it in that early age but the trauma that keeps being unravelled from her dad’s mouth is shocking. she couldn’t react when he mentioned his birthday experience. she never saw him sob, struggling to find a reason to survive. all he wants to do is please his daughter in ways they both know he can’t achieve due to his financial difficulties. you can observe how devastated he becomes when his daughter mentions that even if she ever reconsiders singing, her dad wouldn’t be able to afford it. he just keeps pushing and trying to become a better father for her but his trauma keeps luring him away
it was a brilliant movie. it shows the hard reality parents can face, without us knowing, in order not to feel bad, and as a result we never consider how they really feel or how life’s treating them. because all they care about is us.
