Queer
you’re either going to love or loathe this movie. and i won’t blame you for either of these choices.
guadagnino has only one purpose and continues to achieve it in each movie. he’ll NEVER allow you to get bored.
sure the first two parts were easy to like, but i’ll never come to understand how people hated the third part. it’s supposed to be bizarre FOR A REASON!!
you can see through lee and eugene’s emotions so well in that part that it’s sickening. the tear shedding on the left eye from both of them?? and from the snake later?? a masterpiece. don’t even get me started with the telepathy and combining each other scene.
*queer *focuses on loneliness, rejection and self loathing in the most weird yet realistic way. a middle aged man who struggles to accept his own self resorts to drugs and sex. after falling for a person who keeps reminding him that he’s not homosexual, yet he tries to ignore it as long as possible, it reaches to a point where lee, shivering in the same bed with eugene, realises that he’ll never love him back. continuing with the childhood memories and the infinity symbolism, he finally decides to let go by “killing” eugene and a part of himself
an astonishing movie that i’ll never forget. i’m still trying to process everything, but the way that this movie really made me sit my ass down and write this wholeass review says a lot
