Get OutRonan10.0· July 13, 2025FollowI did a paper on this film in high school. I was obsessed with it. Every scene is perfect. Articulated even discreetly. The performances from every cast member makes it even feel more sinister. It’s even great a second, third, forth, fifth time watch as you just understand the foreshadowing and can see AND FEEL the entire weirdness and unsettling atmosphere. It’s the subtle details again. When they have the family gathering, EVERYONE IS WEARING BLACK? Man there’s just something that this film will forever be in my favourites. Maybe it’s because it was the first film I tried to critically analyse and understand as I was so so so obsessed with it. I honestly believe this was the film that kickstarted my love for film - rather than just watching it and being done with it, learning about the history surrounding it, the detail in the soundtrack, the character tropes, and the subtle subtle detail. This is a thrown together review but I mean,,, the Father when showing Chris around the house mentioning HIS DAD lost to Jesse Owens at the olympics CUT TO then guess what? We see grandad AKA the groundskeeper RUNNING and making throwaway comments about genetic makeup?!?! From how each of the Armitage’s die is FUCKING POETIC. Why was Rose so aggressive with the cop and not wanting Chris to give his ID over?!?! YOU TELL ME. This is all over the place. But honestly. This film may be my favourite film of all time. I just adore it. Not to even mention the political implication and deeper meaning aside from the obvious plot. BUT CMON all the black characters wearing hats or Georgina adjusting her hair all the time, why? BECAUSE OF THE SCARS OF THE SURGERY. Okay this is it otherwise I would keep going on and on. But man. Again. My personal favourite film of all time and also a big shout out to my teacher Ms Johnston who really sparked my interest in film other than a visual playground. In this film EVERY SCENE MATTERS. All the ‘filler’, all the dialogue, EVERYTHING.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
