My favourite movie I’ve watched so far. The landscapes throughout the film are stunning, Robert Redford puts in the best performance of his career. The score is my favourite of all time, and the quotable scenes couldn’t be counted on both hands.
A perfect movie in every single aspect. Every performance, shot, dialogue etc. all creates an atmosphere not found in any other movie I’ve watched. Also Al Pacino loves cocaine
John Carpenter might be my fav director. One of the funniest and most random movies ever while also having some of the coolest action scenes I’ve ever seen. Genuinely gas that both we and Jack Burton have no idea what’s going on or who any of these random people who show up are for the entire movie. Also pretty cool that this was one of the first Hollywood movies with loads of Asian main characters.
Was so impressed by this movie I used it as my French oral document in the Leaving Cert. The world is yours/ours message is in loads of cool stuff, like this movie, scarface, Nas etc. Cinematography is a joke. Could lit spend all day wafflin about how cool this movie is
Only a small bit of Irish bias puts this movie up this high. But regardless of that, this should be the baseline for drama/comedy/action films. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are unreal, Ralph Fienes has never had a below 9/10 performance, and the dialogue is so slick.
Is this movie perfect? No. Is it still one of my favourites? Yessir. One of the most heartwarming movies I’ve seen. How they fleshed out so many characters in such a short time I’ll never know. The motivation stuff gets to Rocky levels at points. Includes one of my fav lines ever: “Alice, are you blind? Don't you see the family resemblance? That's my brother.”
There’s a reason this movie has its own religion. The cast they got for this film is all timer. John Turturro puts in a 10/10 performance but somehow isnt even in the top 3 performances in this movie, with John Goodman having some of the best line deliveries of all time. The comedic timing, iconic scenes and vibe in general of this movie is just different gravy.
Probably the most influential movie of all time. Idc what anyone says, this is the best Starwars movie ever, with Empire being a close second. Probably watched it over 100 times. Han shot first though
Got to see this version in the movies, up there with Oppenheimer and Marty Supreme as probably my favourite cinema experience ever. All of the new scenes were well worth adding, and the style of everything from the costumes to the sound effects is just too cool. Probably the most iconic pair of shoes in any film.
Usually not one to get emotional watching a film, but this movie was just special. How this movie and Zac Efron didn’t even get nominated for an Oscar is a joke. In my opinion up there as one of the greatest sport movies ever made.
*Honourable mention* #11 Just finished it. Never really had that much interest in classical art before this film, but my perspective has definitely changed. Casting was so good I wasn’t once taken out of the film when a famous actor was on screen, the painting style is unbelievable, and the music was perfect. Just overtaken the Prince of Egypt as the best animated film I’ve seen.
