Knives Out
I have finally decided to watch knives out after it has been sitting in my watchlist for the past 2 years. The entire time I watched, the movie surprised me more and more. This movie has aspects I did not expect it to have, and with the runtime of 131 minutes it has earned its 5 stars. The rest of my review will be on scenes I really enjoyed, including scenes that left my mouth wide open, and other details I loved.
extremely strong beginning, everything from the visuals to the music, I got goosebumps. the way they introduce each character is amazing, by stating their relationship to the family, how they act, what they do, all while they are being interrogated. The interrogation scene and how it goes back and forward with each character is brilliant, and it’s even better how each detail when we flash back to the party is different based on the characters perspective. It is really cool how every character has a motive to kill harlan, making the murder mystery all more interesting. the entire sequence of marta getting rid of her tracks while harlan tells her what to do is really good. The family only cares about how Harlan died because the only way to get their inheritance is to prove that someone killed him, it shows exactly how selfish the family is. The car chase scene is amazing.
great title drop
the sound track fits this movie so perfectly, words can hardly describe how much i love it.
I love the camera work in this movie, especially in the scene Marta leaves the house and the camera is still, then when the family comes to disturb her, it switches to a handheld, beautiful scene.
there are so many incredible actors in this movie including Lakeith Stanfield, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans ,and more, who all put an amazing performance throughout the movie.
I love when movies are expressive with their actors and this movie does it really well, it feels like i’m watching a cartoon but with real people and it’s just such a beautiful feel.
this movie shows exactly who each character is in simple one liners which is so amazing, and can even be hilarious at times.
The ending to this movie is seriously amazing, the plot twists, Benoit detangling the case, the final shot with the family looking up at Marta while she looks down at them, and the movie wrapping up with the mug that says “My house…”
This is definitely one of the best movies i’ve seen in a long time.
playing life like a game without consequence... until you can't tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife.
