I don’t know why it took me almost 7 years to give a review for this movie but here we are. this movie was in 2009, when pixar was peaking with movies, so it’s no surprise that this movie was 5 stars. the first 15 minutes of this movie is some of the darkest scenes in a pixar movie i’ve ever seen. those 15 minutes also set the tone for this movie as it was gonna be amazing. if you’ve watched the movie but need a refresher of the 15 minutes i’m talking about, I got you. the movie starts with a young carl watching a movie/documentary of his favorite wilderness explorer, charles munce. he ends getting a balloon but ends up losing in, what it looks like, an abandoned house. he goes in the house to try to get the balloon back and that’s how he meets ellie. the same night, they read and look at pictures of niagara falls. (don’t quote me on that but i’m pretty sure that’s what it is) I don’t remember what happened afterwards but I do remember, they end up getting married, find out that ellie can’t get pregnant, and ellie ends up getting sick and dies. dark start. this movie always makes me cry just from those scenes alone. but enough talking about that. I really loved the supporting characters in this movie like russel, doug, and kevin. I don’t really have anything else to say about this movie but overall, 11/10 amazing animated movie. watch it if you haven’t already
